Proceq's instruments used to investigate sunshades in Singapore
October 4, 2016
Singapore/Schwerzenbach, October 4, 2016 – Proceq instruments continue to prove themselves of great value and assistance to various industries and users globally for a variety of applications. Recently, one such application was covered by Singapore’s lead.
In Singapore's Tampines Street 23, a defective sunshade became dislodged and fell onto one below, damaging the building. Although no one was injured, investigations are underway to determine whether neighbouring buildings are likely to suffer from similar defects. This is where Proceq's high quality, non-destructive testing instruments were deployed to help determine structural integrity and ensure future safety.
Proceq's Profometer cover meter and rebar location instrument uses the pulsed-eddy current principle to generate a magnetic field in the concrete which allows the user to actually see where the reinforcing steel has been installed enabling the engineer to assess if the amount and placement is correct for structural stability and if the cover is sufficient. Corrosion damage to the rebar can also be checked with the Profometer Corrosion to give a complete picture of the state of the reinforcement.
Proceq continues to innovate and find intuitive cutting-edge solutions for industry challenges. The new Profometer 630 AI / 650 AI (Artificial Intelligence) is one such innovative offering. Its cover estimation feature - based on a self-learning algorithm - has the ability to accurately estimate cover for two layer rebar configurations.
The Pundit PL-200 PE ultrasonic pulse echo instrument provides the user with information about the internal structure of the concrete. In particular, this can be used to detect if delaminations have formed, which could weaken the bond between the reinforcing steel and the concrete. The great advantage of this technology is that it is perfectly suited to work on places where the measurement access is restricted to a single side.
With these and other instruments, Proceq provides their user base with multiple technologically advanced solutions in non-destructive testing for diverse applications.
